General Manager
Since 1986, our award-winning community economic development organization has supported small business financing, entrepreneurial training, and regional development initiatives throughout Lac la Biche County and surrounding municipalities.
Position Overview
Under the policy direction of the Board of Directors, the General Manager will:
Execute the strategic delivery of financing programs and training for small and medium-sized enterprises
Oversee administration of the investment loan portfolio and other assets of the corporation
Provide organizational support and project assistance for community development initiatives
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
• Develop and implement multi-year operational plans
• Cultivate government relations and political acumen
• Support board governance and decision-makingEconomic Development
• Design and manage developmental lending programs
• Foster partnerships with SMEs and local stakeholdersHuman Resources
• Lead recruitment, retention, and performance management
• Promote professional development and supervise staffFinancial Management
• Monitor asset/liability positions and prepare budgets
• Produce financial reports and ensure regulatory complianceOperations & Administration
• Maintain client file integrity and standard operating procedures
• Manage contracts and optimize workflow processesMarketing & Public Relations
• Develop communication and promotion strategies
• Enhance client service and community engagement
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years’ experience in credit/banking, business management or community economic development
Proven leadership with exceptional verbal and written communication skills
In-depth knowledge of developmental lending and SME financing
Strong understanding of corporate governance and board dynamics
Strategic thinker who can support the implementation of the Board of Directors strategic 5-year plans - There are significant goals that require dedicated strategic thinking
Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle
Genuine passion for rural and small-town community development
A degree in business or community economic development is required
